Lactoferrin 95% 300mg - 60 capsules
What is lactoferrin?
Lactoferrin is a body's own iron-binding protein that is found in the mucous membranes, the respiratory tract and the gastrointestinal tract. The word 'lacto' refers to the richest source: milk. 'Ferrin' refers to lactoferrin's important ability to bind to iron.
In addition to its ability to bind iron, lactoferrin also has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties. These properties make it an important part of the immune system and overall health.
As humans, we ingest large amounts of lactoferrin shortly after birth through colostrum, the first breast milk. Later breast milk also still contains a lot of lactoferrin compared to the amount we get from dairy. Our body can also produce lactoferrin itself. We can stimulate this production by exercising on an empty stomach, preferably by strength training with the arms.
What is lactoferrin in?
* Lactoferrin is a protein that occurs naturally in various body fluids, such as breast milk, saliva, tears and nasal mucus. It is also found in certain animal products. These are some sources of lactoferrin:
* Breast milk: Breast milk is the richest natural source of lactoferrin. It plays an important role in newborn defense and promoting a healthy immune system.
* Dairy products: Although the concentration of lactoferrin in cow's milk is much lower than in breast milk, it still contains a small amount of lactoferrin. Colostrum in particular, the first milk after the birth of a calf, has a higher lactoferrin content.
* Eggs: Eggs also contain a small amount of lactoferrin, especially in the egg yolk. However, the lactoferrin content in eggs is lower compared to breast milk.
* Beef: Beef is a source of lactoferrin, but the content can vary. It is mainly found in the milk of cows, but small amounts can also be found in the meat. Lactoferrin deficiency?
Your body produces lactoferrin itself, but sometimes and in certain circumstances it can use some extra. When consuming processed food there is a chance that this will negatively impact the supply of lactoferrin. Regular stress and little exercise can also affect the human supply of lactoferrin.
