Raw Portuguese Mountain Honey

Award-winning raw honey from the Serra da Estrela Mountain is a rich, very dark, syrupy, malty, exquisitely balanced honey. This is a raw oak honey with unique complexity.

We've named this honey Serra da Estrela mountain honey because it comes from the Guarda region of Northern Portugal, just east of the majestic Serra da Estrela mountains. These forests are covered with oak ("Carvalho") and chestnut trees ("Castanheiro"), as well as wild flowers and wild berry bushes, all of which have contributed to the unique character of this honey.

The main part of this honey is oak honeydew, which gives it its predominant character. Honeydew is made by bees that forage on sweet secretions of aphids and other insects and is rich in oligosaccharides. Antibacterial and rich in antioxidants, this is a powerful healing honey with an exceptionally smooth, rich and balanced texture and taste.
