Vitakruid Magnesium 200 Complex
Vitakruid Magnesium 200 Complex
Mineral preparation
Magnesium is the basis of more than 300 biochemical processes in our body. An inadequate magnesium balance can therefore manifest itself in countless ways. That is why we have decided to combine all organic magnesium forms that we offer separately in one supplement. In this way we combine the specific applications of the different forms, making the Magnesium Complex a widely applicable supplement.
Magnesium bisglycinate is a compound between magnesium and two (bis) molecules of the amino acid glycine. Magnesium taurate is a combination of the amino acid-like substance l-taurine and magnesium. The bonds to l-taurine and glycine make it easier for the magnesium to cross the blood-brain barrier. Subsequently, the absorption into the brain tissue of magnesium taurate and bisglycinate is also better than that of other magnesium forms.
Magnesium malate is a compound of magnesium and malic acid; magnesium citrate is in turn bound to citric acid. Both acids are part of the so-called citric acid cycle. This biochemical system guarantees the majority of the energy that our body produces in the cells. Furthermore, research shows that our muscle tissue absorbs magnesium malate and citrate relatively well compared to other magnesium compounds.
Organic and chelated forms
Magnesium malate, taurate, bisglycinate and citrate are organically bound forms of magnesium. Inorganic magnesium forms such as magnesium chloride, magnesium oxide and magnesium sulfate are less bioavailable and are therefore less well absorbed. For example, magnesium sulfate only has a bioavailability of 4%. This means that a dosage of 200 mg of magnesium sulfate is only effective for a mere 8 mg.
Our daily diet generally contains inorganically bound magnesium. These are the forms that occur in the soil and are absorbed by the plants that we eat every day. Examples include magnesium oxide and magnesium carbonate. Our body therefore only absorbs a small part of the magnesium that we consume from regular food.
The best forms we know are magnesium chelates such as magnesium taurate, magnesium malate and magnesium bisglycinate. The structure of an amino acid chelate is so strong that our gastric juice cannot split the form. This is due to the amino acids in the chelate form, which act as a protective layer for the magnesium. The magnesium bisglycinate therefore reaches our intestines as a complete element, where our body then absorbs the valuable mineral. Furthermore, the amino acid chelated nature ensures fewer stomach and intestinal complaints, compared to unchelated magnesium forms.
Vitamin B6 as pyridoxal-5-phosphate
Vitamin B6 ensures improved absorption of magnesium. In addition, the vitamin has many scientifically proven health-promoting effects for the body. Pyridoxal-5-phosphate (the biologically active, co-enzymatic form of vitamin B6) has better bioavailability and is safer than pyridoxine. We only use the P-5-P form in our products.
