What is collagen?
Collagen is a protein found in many tissues of the body, including the skin, bones, tendons and joints. It is the most abundant protein in the human body. Collagen accounts for 30% of our total protein mass. As we age, from the age of 25 onwards, the body's natural production of collagen decreases, which can lead to signs of aging such as wrinkles, sagging skin and joint pain. The effectiveness of topical collagen products, such as creams and lotions, to increase collagen levels in the skin is limited because the collagen molecule is too large to be easily absorbed by the skin.
Collagen consists of different types. The most common types are types I, II and III, but there are more than 28 different types of collagen in total. Ovomet®
Ovomet® is a specific brand of eggshell membrane extract that is rich in collagen, especially types I and V. Eggshell membrane is the thin, clear membrane that sits directly underneath the eggshell and that separates the egg white from the shell. The process of extracting beneficial compounds from eggshell membranes is relatively new to the supplement industry, but promising.
What is hyaluronic acid?
