Product information
What is Vitamin B 12? Vitamin B12, also known as cobalamin, is part of the vitamin B complex, which consists of eight B vitamins. It is a water-soluble vitamin that has many functions. Some examples of these are: It helps in the production of red blood cells Supports homocysteine metabolism Contributes to brain and nerve functions Is involved in memory function, it helps to reduce fatigue and listlessness Plays a role in the process of tissue growth and development Has a positive effect on the immune system Vitamin B12 in our diet Vitamin B12 is only found in animal foods. A strict vegan diet can therefore lead to a vitamin B12 deficiency. A vitamin B12 deficiency is often only diagnosed after years. The food that is richest in vitamin B12 is liver. Other food sources are meat, fish, eggs and milk (products). Vitamin B12 is only found in plant foods if bacterial fermentation has taken place, but then only in very small quantities, e.g. in sauerkraut. However, this is not sufficient to cover the recommended intake.
