Active Folic Acid 400 mcg Vitakruid
Active Folic Acid 400 mcg from Vitakruid
We find Vitamin B11 - as we also call folic acid - mainly in green vegetables. Spinach, Brussels sprouts and broccoli are the richest sources, but eggs, whole wheat bread and various meats also contain significant amounts of folic acid.
Our Active Folic Acid contains 400 mcg Quatrefolic®, the most absorbable folic acid available worldwide. An extremely accessible dosage for those who want to become pregnant, or already are!
Folate is the biologically active form of folic acid
Folic acid is the synthetic form of vitamin B11. Folate is the so-called bioavailable or active form of folic acid and is therefore much easier to absorb. Before our body can absorb folic acid, it must go through two conversion processes. First from folic acid to dihydrofolate (DHF), then to tetrahydrofolate (THF) and only then to folate (5-MTHF). When you consume folate in a supplement, it is immediately available to our body and therefore much more effective!
Quatrefolic®, the fourth generation of folate
Quatrefolic®, also called fourth generation folate, has superior bioavailability compared to other forms of folate. Vitakruid guarantees stability by binding with glucosamine salt instead of binding with calcium salt (the third generation of folate). The link with glucosamine salt makes the nutrient more stable in the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in better absorption of the folate (5-MTHF).
Because Quatrefolic® is the already converted form of 5-MTHF bound to calcium salt, the body does not need any further auxiliary nutrients to experience the effect of folic acid. The number one folate form worldwide!
User-friendly due to small tablet
The Active Folic Acid tablets are extremely small. We are talking about a diameter of only nine millimeters, an average weight of 160 milligrams and a thickness of around three millimeters. Even swallowing several tablets at the same time should not pose any problem!
- Folate contributes, among other things, to: extra energy during tiredness/fatigue, brain and nerve functions involved in learning, the production of cells and tissues, to the formation of red and white blood cells and normal amino acid synthesis.
- Folate has a positive influence on the immune system
- Folic acid supplementation increases the folate status of the mother. Low maternal folate status is a risk factor for the development of spina bifida in the developing fetus. The beneficial effect is obtained with an additional folic acid intake of 400 mcg per day for at least one month before and a maximum of three months after conception.
