Vegan Omega-3 Algae Oil - DHA 260mg - 60 capsules
What is Algae Oil?
Algae are microscopic plants, are at the very bottom of the food chain and are the primary source of the omega-3 fatty acid DHA. Algae produce Omega-3 fatty acids themselves and are the food for oily fish such as herring and sardines, which are therefore rich in Omega 3. Vegan Algae Oil is an Omega 3 supplement from sustainably farmed algae. The fermentation process of the algae takes place in a closed, pure environment. The algae oil is therefore free of contamination.
DHA
DHA is an Omega-3 fatty acid that contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and normal vision (at 250 mg per day). DHA also contributes to the maintenance of normal fat levels in the blood (with 2 grams of DHA per day).
This dietary supplement contains 260 mg DHA per capsule.
What is the difference between Fish Oil and Algae Oil?
Fish oil and algae oil both consist of omega-3 fatty acids. The difference lies in the fact that fish oil is extracted from fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel and tuna. Algae oil is extracted from algae. Algae oil is a vegetable alternative to fish oil.
Advantages of using Algae Oil compared to Fish Oil
Sustainable and Vegan alternative to fish oil supplements
Grown in a closed, clean environment
No (or less) problems with belching
TOTOX value Algae oil
The TOTOX value (total oxidation value) indicates the degree of fatty acid oxidation. This value has nothing to do with spoilage, but with how old the oil is. As the oil ages, the TOTOX value increases. The European directive has set a maximum TOTOX value of 26. Mattisson Algae Oil has a TOTOX value of <6.
The response to the TOTOX value may differ per person: some people have no problems with a high TOTOX value, while others already suffer from belching with a low TOTOX value.
Some brands use chemicals to reduce and keep the TOTOX value of algae or fish oils low. We do not have these chemicals in our capsules.
