Vitakruid Astaxanthin (60pcs)
Vitakruid Astaxanthin vegan from sustainably farmed algae
King of the carotenoids
Astaxanthin is one of the most powerful antioxidants nature has to offer. The substance is produced by algae, plankton and various micro-organisms. Astaxanthin is one of the carotenoids, natural coloring agents responsible for the yellow, orange and red color in vegetables and fruit.
The richest natural source of astaxanthin is Haematococcus pluvialis, which is also called the blood rain algae because of its deep red color. The animals that eat these algae therefore acquire a distinctive pink-red color. Think of salmon, lobster, crab, trout and shrimp. Some birds also ingest this dye, such as the flamingo.
Important role in nature
Algae produce astaxanthin to protect themselves from stressful conditions such as drought and sunlight in summer. This allows the algae to protect their DNA so that they can grow again in better conditions.
Moreover, it is known that astaxanthin helps a salmon to swim up to 3,000 kilometers against the current. In birds, high concentrations of astaxanthin are found in the eyes.
Created 100% naturally
For our product we chose AstaPure®, the most sustainable astaxanthin in the world. AstaPure® is produced under natural conditions at a GMP-certified location in the Arava Desert in Israel. Thanks to its stable climate, this region has plenty of sunlight all year round, clean air and is free from pollutants. Algae cultivation also does not displace crops due to the remote location in the desert.
Completely sustainable production process
The entire production takes place using solar energy. Furthermore, underground seawater is used during the production process, so no drinking water is required. This water is then recycled for 80%. The AstaPure® production process is therefore completely sustainable.
Green and red phase
Production occurs in two phases that mimic the accumulation of astaxanthin in nature. In the green phase, the algae enjoy optimal natural growth conditions, allowing them to grow to their maximum potential. In the red phase, the algae are exposed to harsh conditions, causing them to produce astaxanthin as a defense mechanism.
Highest purity astaxanthin
AstaPure® is produced from the algae Haematococcus pluvialis, which contains the most concentrated natural form of astaxanthin. In combination with the production at the remote location in the Arava desert, this ensures the highest purity of astaxanthin, namely 95% of the total number of carotenoids extracted from the algae.
NAXA® & USDA® certified
Our Astaxanthin is free from plastics, environmental pollutants, synthetic preservatives and heavy metals. Furthermore, using CO2 extraction technology, no solvent is required during the production process. Our Astaxanthin is therefore NAXA® & USDA® certified.
Claims
Astaxanthin can be used as an anti-aging because it reduces the visible signs of aging. The carotenoid can be used for the appearance of the skin. Astaxanthin helps maintain the elasticity and softness of the skin, thus contributing to natural skin rejuvenation.
