Essential-Biotic® Saccharomyces boulardii
What is Saccharomyces boulardii?
Saccharomyces boulardii is a symbiotic yeast strain, related to brewer's or baker's yeast ( S. cerevisiae ). Unlike Candida yeasts, S. boulardii does not settle permanently in the intestine, but passes through it.
This symbiotic yeast helps remove problematic yeast strains such as Candida from the digestive tract and promotes colonization of probiotic bacteria. Because S. boulardii is resistant to stomach acid, it reaches the intestine undamaged and multiplies rapidly during passage.
Benefits of Saccharomyces boulardii
S. boulardii produces lactic acid, certain B vitamins, enzymes and amino acids. It supports the absorption of nutrients through the intestinal mucosa and stimulates the production of secretory immunoglobulin A (IgA) , an antibody that helps capture pathogens in the mucosa.
