Matcha
Product information
What is Matcha?
Matcha powder is a finely ground green tea made from shade-grown tea leaves from the Camellia sinensis plant. This organic matcha from Vitakruid is called SunMatcha® Kokyu and is a patented matcha from Japan. The powder is cultivated in the renowned regions of Shizuoka, Mie, Aichi, and Kyoto, where the climate and soil are suitable for tea cultivation. As a versatile matcha powder, this product can be prepared as a warm drink with water, as a latte with plant-based milk, or as a cold drink for any time of day.
SunMatcha® Kokyu is cultivated using the traditional Japanese shading technique, where the tea plants are covered for approximately 30 days. The leaves are hand-picked during the first (Ichibancha) and second (Nibancha) harvests, briefly steamed, slowly dried, and traditionally ground with stone mills. Only the soft, green part of the leaf is used, which ensures a silky-smooth texture.
