Chewable Iron
27 mg iron plus vitamin C as cherry flavoured lozenges
Product information
What is iron? Iron is one of the essential trace elements that our body cannot produce itself. It is involved in many processes in the human organism, including the transport of oxygen as part of the red blood pigment hemoglobin and the storage of oxygen in the muscles. In addition, iron is needed for blood formation and for the functionality of various enzymes and many metabolic processes. It helps to release energy from fat, carbohydrates and proteins, to reduce an energy deficit and also contributes to normal cell division. Children need iron for the development of the brain. An iron deficiency can be the result of blood loss (menstruation) or phases of increased demand, for example during pregnancy and in children during the growth phase. Iron in our food Iron is mainly found in animal products such as meat and fish. Animal foods contain bivalent iron, which the body can use better than vegetable, trivalent iron. However, vegetable foods such as legumes, whole grains, spinach, peas and salsify contribute to covering the iron requirement. Vitamin C can promote the absorption of iron. It is therefore advisable to consume foods rich in vitamin C at the same time, such as orange juice, bell pepper or broccoli. Iron as a supplement The product Chewable Iron from NaturesPlus contains 27 mg of organically bound iron in an amino acid chelate complex in combination with 100 mg of vitamin C per lozenge. A package contains 90 tablets. Note: Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied diet.
