Omega 3-6-9 Fish, Evening Primrose and Flaxseed Oil supplement
This Omega 3-6-9 supplement consists of essential (Omega 3) and non-essential fatty acids (Omega 6 and 9). The capsules are a blend of both animal and vegetable oils.
Fish oil
Fish oil consists of high-quality pure oil and contains 180 mg EPA, 120 mg DHA (total 600 mg Omega 3) per capsule. In addition, extra vitamin E has been added to protect the product against oxidation.
Evening primrose oil
Evening primrose oil is a dietary supplement extracted from the seeds of the evening primrose plant, also known as Oenothera biennis. Evening primrose oil is a source of the Omega 6 fatty acid Gamma Linolenic acid. This fatty acid contributes to joint health, healthy menstrual balance, healthy weight, healthy skin and healthy cognitive function. *
Linseed oil
Linseed comes from flax, a crop that occurs in various varieties. The type of variety determines whether the color of the flower will be white or blue. This also determines whether brown or yellow linseed is produced. Golden linseed and brown 'normal' linseed do not differ much in terms of nutritional value. Only the color is different. Linseed oil is pressed from linseed. Linseed oil contains ALA: an essential omega-3 fatty acid.
What are Omega-3 fatty acids?
Omega-3 fatty acids are unsaturated fats that, like vitamins and minerals, are essential in the body. Essential means that the body cannot produce these fatty acids itself, so you must get them through food. This can be done, for example, by eating oily fish twice a week. Omega 3 comes in 3 types: short fatty acids (ALA) and two longer fatty acids (EPA) and (DHA). ALA fatty acid is found in all kinds of vegetable sources and the longer fatty acids EPA and DHA are only found in fish oil and algae oil.
Effect of Omega-3 fatty acids
ALA contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels (at 200 mg per day). DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and normal vision (at 250 mg per day). DHA and EPA contribute to normal heart function (at 250mg EPA & DHA per day).
