High absorption capacity due to soluble fibers
There is a distinction between soluble and insoluble fiber types. Insoluble fibers do not absorb water, so the structure in our body remains virtually unchanged. Soluble fibers, on the other hand, react directly with water. They act like a kind of filler in our stomach, by absorbing large amounts of water. The expanded fibers turn into a voluminous, viscous substance that ensures longer satiety.
Scientifically substantiated combination
The soluble fibers psyllium and glucomannan also have a synergistic relationship. Research into the effect of this specific fiber combination shows that both fibers have a particularly high viscosity. When you think of the term viscosity, think of a funnel. When we let water flow through a funnel, this will happen without resistance; the fluid has a low viscosity. When we take a thick syrup-like substance, there will be more resistance due to the higher viscosity. The mass will have more difficulty moving through a funnel. Psyllium and glucomannan are examples of fibers with a high viscosity: they absorb a lot of water, turning them into a syrup-like mass.
