Difficulty falling asleep
This collection has been created for people who have difficulty falling asleep, often due to increased mental activity, worrying, a disrupted circadian rhythm, or insufficient melatonin production. During this phase of the sleep cycle, it is especially important to calm the nervous system and physiologically support the transition to sleep.
The selected supplements focus on:
- stimulating natural melatonin production
- lowering cortisol levels in the evening
- promoting GABAergic relaxation and serotonin balance
- shortening the time it takes to fall asleep
- supporting the circadian rhythm (biological clock)
This collection is particularly suitable for problems falling asleep, stress-related overactivity in the evening and jet lag-like complaints.
Supplements in this collection may contain:
Melatonin (low dose)
Supports the natural sleep response. Important for delayed sleep phases or jet lag. Low doses (0.1–1 mg) are often more effective for sleep onset problems than high doses.
L-theanine
Green tea amino acid that stimulates alpha brain waves, promoting mental relaxation without drowsiness. Very helpful for nagging thoughts before sleep.
Glycine
Helps lower body temperature and promotes deep relaxation. Contributes to a more peaceful sleep process, especially for those sensitive to stress.
GABA (or GABA precursors such as taurine or theanine)
A neurotransmitter with a calming effect on the central nervous system. Helps reduce overstimulation.
Magnesium (taurate, bisglycinate)
An essential mineral for relaxation. It supports the reduction of alertness and activates GABA receptors. Magnesium deficiency is common in insomnia.
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera)
An adaptogen that normalizes cortisol levels and promotes calmness without sedation. Effective for stress-related sleep problems.
5-HTP (precursor of serotonin and melatonin)
Supports serotonin and melatonin synthesis. Do not combine with SSRIs.
Passion flower, valerian, lemon balm
Traditionally used plant extracts with calming properties, can be used for nervousness or restlessness in the evening.
B6 and zinc
Cofactors in the conversion of tryptophan to serotonin and melatonin. Deficiencies can limit melatonin production.
