It originates from countries around the Mediterranean Sea and then spread throughout Europe and North America. Cold-pressed borage oil is an oil that is cold pressed from the seeds of the borage plant. Borage oil is the richest natural source of gamma linolenic acid (GLA). GLA helps with discomfort prior to and during menstruation1. Biotin is good for the skin and vitamin B6 is good for hormone balance. Unfortunately, this polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acid is hardly found in food. Fortunately, the body itself can produce GLA from (cis)linoleic acid. However, sometimes it can be useful to supplement this with a supplement. Golden Naturals Borage Oil contains 1000 mg of pure borage oil per softgel capsule, of which 20% is the essential omega 6 fatty acid GLA (gamma linolenic acid). Well-known sources of GLA are borage oil and evening primrose oil. Of these two sources, borage oil contains the highest percentage of GLA (20%). One capsule of Borage oil provides 200 mg of GLA. To protect the fatty acids against oxidation, 10 mg vitamin E has been added per capsule.
