NourSea Calanus oil | 500 mg 60 softgels
Product information
Springfield NourSea contains Calanus oil , a natural, unprocessed omega-3 oil derived from Calanus finmarchicus (zooplankton). These small crustaceans are low in the food chain and sustainably harvested in the clean North Atlantic Ocean. This makes the oil naturally very pure.
Calanus oil is distinguished by the presence of omega-3 fatty acids in the form of wax esters . This form of fatty acid ensures a delayed release , making the fatty acids available further down the intestinal tract.
What is Calanus® oil?
Calanus oil is a marine oil that occurs naturally in Calanus finmarchicus . Unlike fish oil, Calanus oil contains omega-3 fatty acids primarily in the form of wax esters. This structure corresponds to the natural storage form of fatty acids in the body itself.
Special composition of omega-3 fatty acids
NourSea contains a combination of:
- EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid)
- DHA (docosahexaenoic acid)
- SDA (stearidonic acid)
EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart with a daily intake of 250 mg EPA and DHA together .
Wax esters: delayed release
The omega-3 fatty acids in Calanus oil are bound to wax esters. These ensure gradual release in the digestive tract. The form of the omega-3 fatty acids is at least as important as the quantity.
Sustainable and ecologically responsible
Calanus finmarchicus has a very high biomass and reproduces rapidly. Harvesting is strictly regulated by the Norwegian government, preventing overfishing. Calanus harvesting is a secondary activity and does not cause unnecessary bycatch.
